Software Council of Southern California Sponsorship

LOS ANGELES, August 15, 2003 - Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP today announced its sponsorship of the Software Council of Southern California (SCSC). The Software Council is a non-profit, membership-based organization located in Torrance, Calif., whose members are decision-makers at companies that develop software or provide software services who are looking for effective ways to grow and manage their businesses.

"Manatt is pleased to support the Software Council as a gold corporate sponsor," said T. Hale Boggs, a Corporate & Finance Partner and Co-Chair of the Firm's Business and Transactions Division. "Its leadership throughout Southern California makes it the place to network for anyone involved in the software business."

Since 1991, the Software Council has been a leader in the region's software and technology marketplace, bringing CEOs, presidents and other executives up-to-the minute advice on management practices, strategic business alliances, business resources, marketing trends and funding opportunities. The organization holds approximately 100 events per year including an annual capital investment conference - VentureNet and the Software Industry Awards.

As a sponsor, Manatt will host some Software Council events at its Los Angeles office. In addition to supporting the organization's programs and sharing its business knowledge and expertise with Software Council members, the Firm will also benefit from its sponsorship by having its logo displayed at industry events and on the organization's Web site, receiving a corporate membership, publication of at least one article submitted by a Manatt attorney in the Scribe newsletter, and other marketing opportunities.

"We welcome Manatt, Phelps & Phillips to our family of sponsors," commented Software Council Executive Director Richard Koffler. "The commitment to and active involvement with the Software Council by one of Southern California's most prestigious law firms serving the region's software industry will be of significant benefit to our members."
