Business Intelligence in the Real
World
February 27, 2003
The
term Business Intelligence (BI) gets used a lot these days. But
what are people really doing today and what should you be doing?
Are they creating the 500 Terabyte Data Warehouse that delivers
a stack of reports to the Finance Manager each day, or is it that
graph on a web page that lets the CEO know how close they are
to his revenue estimates as of that second? And because most data
needs to be thought of relative to BI, what are the things that
I should be doing as a software decision maker to ensure that
I'm planning for BI?
We
are privileged to have two industry experts from Oracle and Conexant
come share real world experience. They've recently completed a
book called "Internet Enabled Business Intelligence"
and have scars to prove they've been through it all. Their discussion
will focus on what Business Intelligence really means, what companies
are doing today, and what you should be doing to plan for it in
your enterprise software architecture.
