BEST PRACTICES IN SOFTWARE LICENSING AND PRICING

June 19, 2003

Formulating software licensing terms and pricing was never easy, but
it's getting tougher by the day with myriad new distribution methods and
channels, including the growing popularity of rapidly-evolving concepts like
web-based hosted solutions (aka application service providers, ASPs),
wireless platforms, and pay-per-use deals.

Our panel of been-there-done-that experts will share their thoughts
about pricing and licensing ideas that maximize both short- and long-term
cash flow and profits. The goal is not to tell you what's your endpoint -
because that's for you to find out - but to discuss ideas that will help you
find the best answer for you.

Specifically, the panel will discuss:

  • The factors affecting your pricing and licensing decisions.

  • How much to charge and how to license.

  • When to revise your pricing and licensing terms.

  • How to embed in your software functions to meter your licensing and
    pricing models.

Panelists:

The audience for this panel includes CEOs, CTOs, CMOs and CFOs of
companies that sell software and software services.
