Offshore Outsourcing: Acting
Globally, Managing Locally
March 16, 2004
Suddenly,
outsourcing is no longer faddish - for IT and for other sectors
of the economy. But unlike the outsourcing of yesteryear --
where companies engaged with other firms to provide specialized
services within the U.S. market -- the new boom in outsourcing
focuses overwhelmingly on tapping resources offshore. According
to the Meta Group, at least a third of new IT development for
major U.S. companies is now done overseas.
Assuming that the globalization of information technology is
here to stay, how can savvy executives better understand --
and profit -- from the new status quo?
Please join us on March 16, 2004, when the Software Council
of Southern California addresses offshore outsourcing from all
sides. Our panel of experts will tackle such critical questions
as:
-
What
pieces of the business can effectively be moved offshore -
and which pieces should not be?
-
What
are the competitive risks of not hopping aboard the outsourcing
bandwagon?
-
What
are the realistic cost savings from going offshore?
-
What
are the key issues with working with an offshore team?
-
What's
the best way to find a good offshore service provider?
-
If
certain IT skills have become commodities, what will fill
the void for knowledge workers?
