FrontBridge:
From Start-up to Microsoft Acquisition -
the Blood, Sweat
and Tears of Joy!
February 2, 2006
On August
31, 2005, Microsoft announced the completion of its acquisition
of FrontBridge, a leading provider of managed messaging services
for enforcing email compliance with encryption and archiving
tools, providing email availability through a web-based back
up, and improving protection of employee in-boxes from viruses
and spam. The acquisition was for an undisclosed amount, but
one that provided a very attractive return to investors, including
Sierra Ventures and BA Venture Partners.
Founded
in 1999, Marina del Rey-based FrontBridge is now a Microsoft
subsidiary. Prior to being acquired by Microsoft, FrontBridge
raised $28 million in venture funding in four equity rounds.
FrontBridge CEO Steve Jillings and CFO Rob Chrone, both of whom
are currently under contract with Microsoft, developed and executed
the company's strategic plans, and they will be sharing their
thoughts and insights on how they raised capital, succeeded
as a start-up, and ultimately negotiated what has been viewed
as one of the most successful M & A transactions in Southern
California in 2005.
This is
a must-attend for entrepreneurs, management teams, and others
looking to succeed in the technology arena. Don't miss this
interactive session and the opportunity to ask questions, give
comments, and discuss your ideas with two technology leaders.

About
the Speakers
Barbara
Lewis, Founder, MarQuant Analytics, LLC
Barbara Lewis began her career as a journalist writing for The
Wall Street Journal among other publications. After working
in the marketing department at service companies, she started
a marketing company in 1990. When she graduated with an MBA
from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1995, she teamed
up with her classmate, Dan Otto, a former aerospace engineer,
to form Centurion Consulting Group. The two offer strategic
planning, marketing, operations and financial advice, as well
as computer modeling to help executives make better decisions.
After six
years in business and "selling hours" as consultants,
Barbara and Dan decided to commercialize a computer model and
begin licensing their proprietary software. They formed MarQuant
Analytics in 2003. Their clients include Amgen, OgilvyOne Worldwide,
Allstate Insurance, Wachovia Bank and the Allant Group, among
others. MarQuant currently has four software products, all of
which optimize the marketing budget.
