About the Panel

Stefano Malnati
Stefano Malnati is the vice president of engineering for HireRight, an Orange County based firm with their software development team in Estonia. Mr. Malnati is responsible for driving the development of HireRight's front- and back-office technology solutions. Mr. Malnati has gained over fifteen years of professional experience in the high-tech industry where he has been dedicated to managing the development of web-based enterprise applications in collaborative development environments.

Before joining HireRight, Mr. Malnati was Vice President of Product Management and Business Development at ImpactXoft, Inc. where he successfully led the product management, product marketing and business development efforts of the software development firm. Since 1993, Mr. Malnati has played key roles involved in software product development initiatives involving distributed teams and resources located in different parts of world (United States, Europe, Russia, India, Japan, South Africa). Some of these initiatives involved wholly owned subsidiaries, some engaged outsourcing partners.

Mr. Malnati holds a degree in electronics from the Instituto Tecnico of Gallarate , Italy and has studied Computer Science at the Universita'degli Studi in Italy.
Mr. Malnati's presentation will focus on the theme: People, culture and process are the key success factors to distributed software development: it is not about technology.

Aloke Nath
Aloke is the CEO and Co-Founder of Syncata, a business consulting and systems integration firm that helps automotive, industrial manufacturing, and automotive finance companies achieve breakthrough operational performance through innovative business and technology solutions. Syncata has experience in both the US and the Indian software development community. Nath co-founded Syncata in 1990, drawing on his extensive experience in corporate IT and consulting. He has over twenty years of business and technical experience in the successful management and delivery of large software systems for major companies.

Prior to co-founding Syncata, he held key management and technical positions at Ashton-Tate, Citicorp, UNISYS and Computer Sciences. At Ashton Tate, he was part of their Consulting Division, and worked on the partnership with Microsoft and Sybase to migrate Sybase's relational database to the distributed PC platform, leading to what is now an industry leading database platform, SQL Server.

Darcy Wiborg Weber
Darcy Wiborg Weber is Vice President of Development for Telelogic, where she is responsible for directing the design, development, and third-line support of Telelogic's Synergy Suite of change and configuration management tools. Telelogic is a leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development; their tools automate and support best practices throughout the development lifecycle. Prior to joining Telelogic, she was Director of Development for Continuus Software Corporation.

Darcy has an extensive background in software configuration and change management solutions and best practices for software development. Her experience with offshore development is from two perspectives: managing outsourced and offshore development projects to supplement her development lab resources, and developing tools to help Telelogic customers manage their global and offshore development. Darcy will discuss her experiences and recommend some best practices for offshore development.


David Raber
David has over 20 years of experience managing software product development, including several off-shore projects dating back to the mid 1980's. In addition to serving as VP of Development, he has also served in senior product management and product development roles for major commercial software companies such as Epicor, Best Software, and McDonnell Douglas Health Systems Company. David's academic background is economics, so he brings technical, process, and business understanding to the outsourcing question.
