Lee Shaeffer, Executive Director

Leland D. Shaeffer has been the Executive Director of the Software
Council of Southern California (SCSC) since September 2003. He
brings to this position a wealth of software marketing and business
development experience as well as a long association with the
SCSC dating back to its first event in January of 1992.
Prior to assuming
his current position, Mr. Shaeffer has held senior positions in
marketing, business development and product management at several
software and high-technology companies. These have included iSearch,
an Application Service Provider, Kodak subsidiary Imagery Software,
which developed a suite of document imaging applications, Nantucket,
the vendor of the "Clipper" database development environment,
Apple Computer and Convergent Technologies/Unisys.
In addition
to his operating experience, Mr. Shaeffer has been a consultant
with McKinsey & Company, Inc. and is currently a principal
at Reinertsen & Associates, which specializes in improving
the front-end of the development process by helping companies
quickly evaluate and launch new products and new businesses. He
also teaches a course at the California Institute of Technology's
(Caltech's) Industrial Relations Center on "Streamlining
the Product Development Process."
He holds a
B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology and an MBA from Stanford, where he was an R.J. Miller
Scholar (top 10% of class).
